A solo trip to Kanyakumari: Stories from southernmost sea-shore "One's destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things" - Henry Miller It was sometime in last October that I decided to travel to Kanyakumari, on my first ever solo trip. Kanyakumari seemed as the safest and best bet for a lone woman traveller on a mission to spend a weekend some where far in tranquility. The Southernmost tip of India, had more than one reason to draw my imagination. The beaches, sunset, confluence of three oceans, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, and of course, the people and culture that make every place unique from the other. Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar statue at Kanyakumari. It was not for the first time that I was visiting Kanyakumari. I had travelled there long ago as a child, but had no distinct memories attached to the place. The only memory of Kanyakumari I had was the family photographs with Vivekananda Rock Memorial in the backdrop, s

Meghalaya: This land of clouds is much more than clouds 'n' rains! We were at the fag end of our tour de North East. During the last one and a half day, we visited some parts of Meghalaya. As the cab sped on the wide highway, I kept wondering should I be sad for being at the verge of wrapping up the trip or I should be happy for going back home with so many memories to share with friends and family? If yo

A trip to enticing Tawang Tawang was mesmirising. So far the most beautiful place I have seen. The highlight of Tawang are the monasteries, the drive to Indo-China border, Sangetser lake and the nicest people . So the next morning we woke up to see the snow-clad bird-view of Tawang town. It came as a surprise because there was apparently no snowfall during last few days. After thoroughly enjoying the sight of snow showering all around, we hired a taxi for the day’s sightseeing. We visited Tawang monastery (Asia’s second largest monastery), war memorial and some smaller monasteries. To our bad luck, the market was close and it would remain close for next few days due to Losar festival - Buddhist’s new year. And our dream of shopping just shattered. The Buddha statue at Tawang town. We drove back to the hotel to hear yet another bad news. The hotel owner said the route to Bum La pass and Madhuri lake was closed due to heavy snowfall. The Indian army was not letting an
